Tarikapuy and its recycling culture were the winners of the 2018 Providencia Innovation Factory
Three minutes to explain their project and impact the jury had the 17 projects of the 2018 Providencia Innovation Factory (FAB), which on Thursday came to an end. Only one of the groups could win and the decision was not easy, because all the presentations gave great contributions to the themes developed: Health and Aging, Technology and Waste Management.
At 20:00 the jury gave its verdict, and this is how the Tarikapuy guys won this version of the FAB with their recycling project, which aims to create a culture of awareness in Chilean homes, starting in our commune: Providencia.
Carolina Arredondo, member, explains that Tarikapuy is a Quechua word that means "to recover that which has been lost", this is how, through the project, they seek to implement a circular economy model, which starts in housing zones.
"We will develop sensitization workshops in buildings, we will install containers with separation inside the homes, then we take care of the removal, and we take the material to collection centers. It is essential that we become aware of the sustainability of the planet and we believe that the neighbors should participate in this process", she explained.
Tarikapuy, by winning the FAB, will enter a period of internship in the Department of Environment of the Municipality of Providencia, where they will acquire tools for the implementation of their project in the commune.
The end of the FAB, a 100% municipal program developed by the Hub Providencia Innovation Department, was full of excitement, innovation and challenges.
"We are very proud of everyone, the work with the projects does not end here. From the Municipality we will continue supporting, guiding and linking the groups with partners that we have as IBM, Gero Chile and 3M, so they can be successful in their proposals ", assured the Head of Innovation, Nicole Castro.
